Concrete Finisher Form Setter
SAN ANTONIO, TX
Field

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Concrete Finisher / Form Setter to join our crew. This position performs skilled work in building, setting, and aligning formwork for sidewalks, driveways, ramps, curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures. You will prepare, place, screed, and finish concrete to spec, ensuring correct grade, slope, and quality. Work is hands-on, outdoors year-round, and requires precision, physical strength, and safe operation of tools and equipment.


YOUR ROLE

  • Read and follow layouts, elevations, and formwork designs provided by the Foreman or Survey crew.
  • Set, align, and brace wood, steel, and SIM forms for flatwork, curbs, ramps, and structural concrete.
  • Install form hardware, wall ties, chamfer strips, expansion joints, rebar chairs, and bracing systems per specs.
  • Use smart levels, measuring tapes, string lines, and grade pins to confirm elevation, slope, and alignment.
  • Cut and prepare form materials, stakes, and strong backs to required dimensions.
  • Place, tie, and cut rebar and wire mesh to size, ensuring correct spacing and overlap.
  • Install detectable warnings, ADA-compliant ramp slopes, armored joints, and embedded fixtures.
  • Screed concrete to proper elevation, keeping correct slope for drainage.
  • Finish concrete using edgers, hand floats, jointers, brooms, and other finishing tools.
  • Operate walk-behind screeds, vibrators, and finishing machines safely.
  • Coordinate with concrete truck drivers for staging, chute placement, and pour sequencing.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including PPE use, fall protection, and confined space procedures.
  • Perform traffic control and flagging duties as required to ensure the safety of workers, equipment, and the traveling public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • 35 years of experience in concrete form setting and finishing (or equivalent training).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, and elevation markings.
  • Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment.
  • Knowledge of ADA, TxDOT, and standard concrete specifications preferred.
  • Valid drivers license is preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed outdoors year-round in all conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and other harsh weather. Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods. Regularly lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistance while handling formwork, tools, and materials. Must tolerate dust, noise, and vibration common to construction environments.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May require travel within Texas. Overnight or out-of-town stays may be needed based on project location.
