Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

At Perry Homes, benefits are a core part of how we support our people and their families. As we continue to grow, we need a Benefits Manager who can own the details, lead with intention, and continuously improve how our benefits work for employees.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will lead our benefits programs, manage a Benefits Specialist, and take an active role in strengthening our self-funded plans. You'll also serve as the point of contact for employees and leaders, ensuring benefits are clear, competitive, and well managed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Benefits Strategy & Continuous Improvement

Own the strategy, design, and administration of Perry Homes' benefits programs, with a strong focus on improving our self-funded medical plans

Proactively evaluate plan performance, utilization, costs, and employee feedback to identify opportunities for improvement

Partner with brokers and vendors to recommend thoughtful, data-driven changes that benefit both employees and the business

Stay current on benefits trends and bring forward ideas to enhance our offerings

Leadership & Team Development

Lead and develop the Benefits Specialist, with clear ownership of coaching, growth, and skill development

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions, partnering with the Benefits Specialist to resolve issues and build their capability over time

Ensure both the manager and specialist share the administrative workload while maintaining strong service levels

Benefits Committee Leadership

Lead the Perry Homes Benefits Committee, including meeting cadence, agendas, and follow-ups

Partner with Finance, Legal, and Talent leadership to align benefits decisions with business priorities

Present clear recommendations and updates to stakeholders

Employee Experience & Communication

Ensure benefits communications are clear, timely, and easy to understand

Lead open enrollment planning and execution end-to-end

Act as a trusted resource for employees and leaders on benefits-related matters

Operations, Compliance & Organization

Own day-to-day benefits administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong documentation

Lead FMLA leave and ADA accommodation processes, ensuring compliance, best practices, and streamlining communication.

Oversee Workers Compensation compliance and reporting

Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Build and maintain organized processes, timelines, and reporting for all benefits work

Be highly organized and proactive, anticipating needs rather than reacting to issues

Partnership & Visibility

Work closely with the Head of the Talent Organization to provide regular updates, insights, and recommendations

Partner with Payroll, Finance, Legal, IT, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution

Escalate risks and opportunities early, with solutions in hand

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of progressive benefits experience, including self-funded plans

Prior experience managing and developing a direct report

Strong understanding of benefits compliance and governance

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently

A self-starter who takes ownership and follows through

Strong communicator who can translate complex benefits topics into clear guidance

Experience in a growing or multi-state organization is preferred
