The Opportunity

Are you ready to help power the energy transition and shape a more sustainable future? Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) team within the North America Grid Integration Business Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that support the modernization of the power grid, including Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), power quality solutions, utility transmission infrastructure, and other advanced technologies that improve grid reliability and efficiency.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects from concept through commissioning. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, customers, suppliers, contractors, and industry experts to develop innovative solutions that help utilities increase power system capacity while improving stability and reducing environmental impact.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and coordinate electrical engineering activities across multiple projects and project phases.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Design and execute projects in accordance with customer requirements and applicable FACTS, NEC, ANSI, and IEEE standards.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, including specifications, RFPs, manufacturing packages, and as-built drawings.
  • Support project planning through scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • Review supplier deliverables, evaluate vendors, and support procurement of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Provide technical support during testing, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, quality, and efficiency.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS, MS, or PhD).
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Experience with FACTS, STATCOM, power quality, or utility transmission projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage substations and utility engineering practices.
  • Experience with GIS substations, protection and control systems, and electrical schematics is a plus.
  • Excellent technical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
