The Carolina Latinx Center (CLC) supports UNC-Chapel Hill's Latinx communities and educates the campus and beyond through engagement, scholarship, cultural awareness, and public service.
The Carolina Latinx Center provides students, faculty and staff the opportunity to explore Latinx cultures, histories and tradition and to use that understanding to work across racial and ethnic communities in North Carolina and the world. For faculty, staff and students who are engaged in research, teaching and/or service related to Latinx communities and issues, the CLC connects them both with one another and with community partners.

Position Summary
The Carolina Latinx Center is seeking talented bilingual college students to work in our Summer Science Camps from June 22 - July 17, 2026.
We offer exciting, hands-on summer camps for rising 3rd and 4th grade students. This summer, campers will explore different areas of music in a fun, engaging, and bilingual learning environment. If you are bilingual and passionate about education, music, or working with children, we invite you to share your enthusiasm with campers in our inaugural Bilingual Music Summer Camp in Chapel Hill as a CLC Summer Camp Counselor.
Our staff enjoy:
- A schedule that is flexible around summer classes and on-campus employment
- A fun, dynamic, and supportive work environment
- Mandatory camp training sessions will take place on June 15 & 16, 2026.
Job Duties Include:
- Participating in training on music content and curriculum designed for children ages 8-9 (No music background? No problem-we'll teach you!)
Learning best practices for leading camp activities, including:
-Supporting campers with special needs
-Using inclusive teaching methods
-General camp management
-Leading music activities for groups of up to 24 campers
Maintaining a structured camp environment as the primary counselor by:
-Planning and preparing activities
-Organizing materials
-Managing the classroom
Communicate with camp administrators regarding:
-Camp incidents
-Material needs
-General camp updates
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
- Bilingual
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Moderate physical effort is required. Counselors may spend time teaching inside and outside (based on camp activities). Prolonged periods of time will also be spent outside during pick up and drop off periods. Duties to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
