Gilliatte General Contractors is hiring an experienced Commercial Carpenter to support construction projects in Indianapolis and other locations as needed. The strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with metal stud framing, drywall installation, commercial doors and hardware, and acoustical ceilings.
Founded in Indianapolis nearly 40 years ago, Gilliatte General Contractors is licensed in 38 states and has grown into one of the Midwest's respected commercial construction firms. Our team of more than 50 employees is committed to completing projects safely, on time, and to high standards of quality.
Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Frame and construct walls using metal studs and other specified materials.
  • Hang and install drywall according to plans and specifications.
  • Install commercial doors, frames, and hardware, including drilling and setting hardware.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, drywall, and other construction materials.
  • Plumb, level, and align structures to ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Install acoustical ceiling systems when required.
  • Read and follow project drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work effectively with superintendents, subcontractors, laborers, and other trades.
  • Travel to project sites and work day or night shifts when project schedules require it.
Required Qualifications
  • 1-5 years of carpentry or construction experience, preferably in commercial construction.
  • Experience framing walls and installing doors and hardware.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, plumb, level, and align materials.
  • Working knowledge of standard carpentry tools and jobsite safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work full-time in a field-based construction environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and adjust between day and night shifts based on project needs.
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work productively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with metal stud framing and drywall hanging.
