Description
The University of Chicago's Ben May Department for Cancer Research and Ludwig Center of Chicago invites applications for full-time faculty members at any rank. The appointees are expected to establish independent cutting-edge research programs in cancer biology that complement and extend the research conducted by Department and Ludwig Center faculty in the areas of the tumor microenvironment, cancer cell signaling, cancer systems biology, immunology, the microbiome and cancer, systemic effects of cancer, and the effects of diet and obesity on cancer prognosis. Appointees will teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. The Ben May Department of Cancer Research has an illustrious history of discovery in cancer biology in a dynamic academic setting. Research in the department is focused on mechanistic insights into tumor biology with an emphasis on translating scientific discovery into the clinic. The Ludwig Center of Chicago includes a range of researchers with strengths in tumor metabolism, metastasis, and microenvironment.
Appointees will also be proposed for appointments in the NCI-designated University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) (http://cancer.uchicago.edu) and collaborate in multi-disciplinary research with colleagues across the Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences Divisions, the University of Chicago Medical Center and the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. The University of Chicago offers state-of-the-art core facilities and outstanding graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs in the biological and physical sciences.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent.
