Job Title:BYU Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach

Job Summary:
The BYU Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach will play an integral role in the organization, development, and daily operation of a nationally competitive NCAA Division I volleyball program. This position partners closely with the head coach to plan and execute training sessions, develop student-athletes on and off the court, and support competitive preparation at the conference and national levels. The assistant coach contributes to recruiting, game planning, player development, and program culture, while upholding BYU's commitment to academic excellence, character development, and faith-centered leadership. The role requires a strong passion for mentoring student-athletes, a collaborative coaching approach, and a dedication to fostering both athletic performance and personal growth within a values-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Player Development and Coaching

  • Under the direction of the Head Coach, provide coaching in both a team and individual setting to improve volleyball skills

  • Participate in the creation of practice plans, teach private lessons to BYU team members, assist in match preparation, advise on strategy, and provide direct coaching and assistance during matches

  • Run practice in the absence of the head coach

  • Research and identify the latest trends and techniques in coaching and performing in volleyball

  • Work closely with prospective, full-time, and returned missionaries associated with the team to help them feel encouraged and connected amidst the transitions of a mission

Assist in the recruitment and selection of student-athletes

  • Comply with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects

  • Under the direction of the head coach, research, evaluate, contact and recruit women of high character, scholarship and athletic ability to compete for the BYU Men's Volleyball program

  • Help coordinate all on campus recruiting visits

  • Market the Men's Volleyball program to prospective recruits, community members, and club members both domestically and internationally

  • Travel to evaluate talent and market the BYU Men's Volleyball program to potential recruits

  • Demonstrate knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules/regulations

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (must have required degree by start date)

  • 2 years college volleyball playing and/or coaching experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Division I volleyball and NCAA rules and regulations

  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code

  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.

Preferred:

  • College coaching experience (strongly preferred)

  • Recruiting experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of university policies
