Job DetailsPosition Summary

The Blood Bank Supervisor, under the direction of the Laboratory Director and Technical Supervisor, oversees the daily operations of the Blood Bank to ensure the delivery of safe, accurate, and timely laboratory services. This role supervises technical staff, monitors testing quality and result reporting, and ensures compliance with all hospital policies, departmental procedures, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.

The Blood Bank Supervisor is responsible for performing routine and specialized blood bank procedures as needed while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and laboratory quality. The supervisor also supports staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and operational efficiency, and performs additional duties as assigned by the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services and/or the Laboratory Medical Director.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or another physical science from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a hospital Blood Bank or Transfusion Services department preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of blood bank operations, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, and laboratory safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
