Position Summary:

This position is responsible for operating a variety of CNC mills and lathes, brake press, tube benders. Operator will load, unload, and inspect parts during the machining process. Operator will be responsible for maintaining part quality and while achieving production standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Loads, unloads, and inspects parts being machined while maintaining published PPH.
  • Operates a minimum of one lathe or mill along with performing secondary operations.
  • Maintains accurate part counts, fills out Box Tags, and Job/Quantity Tracker.
  • Reports and asks supervisor/lead for assistance with any machining problems.
  • Follows documented operator procedures such as inspection check sheets and posted operator notes
  • Maintains a clean work area and observes all safety procedures
  • Can execute machine offsets and insert changes with direction of supervisor or lead-person.
  • Produces parts with less than 1.5% scrap rate on a consistent basis.
  • Operates a variety of Lathes and Mills, along with secondary operations with routine supervision.
  • Operates a minimum of 2 machines simultaneously.
  • Deburr, clean, and package finished parts as required.
  • Other duties as needed.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Willingness to learn and take direction; strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Performs basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimals.
  • Maintains dimensional tolerances between .0003"-.005" or greater.
  • Interprets basic dimensions on a print.
  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of CNC functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation

Position Qualifications

Education:

HS graduate or equivalent required

Experience:

1+ years machining experience, trade school or equivalent.

Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred but not required.

Basic understanding of CNC controls (e.g., FANUC, Haas) is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Tolerance for working in environments with exposure to noise, lubricants, metal particles, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.regularly
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel tools and machine parts.
  • Reaching with arms and hands above shoulder height and below the waist.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time (up to 8-12 hours per shift)
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, inspect parts, and operate machinery safely.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to handle small parts and operate precision tools.

HS graduate or equivalent

Experience:

2+ years of prior machinist experience required.

Experience in manufacturing or manufacturing quality environment preferred
