Job description

Borsheims is seeking a full-time Bench Jeweler to join our team. This role is essential in delivering our Signature Service to every customer.

The Jeweler I provides best-in-class support by performing quality jewelry repairs that help preserve and celebrate our customers' most meaningful pieces. This role focuses on completing basic jewelry repairs independently while developing intermediate skills under the guidance of experienced trainers. Successful individuals are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to craftsmanship, quality, and continuous skill development while supporting internal teams and delivering Borsheims' Signature Service.

Job Duties

  • Perform jewelry repairs including sizing, soldering, stone setting, and polishing
  • Examine jewelry to determine repair needs and ensure quality workmanship
  • Use hand tools, laser welding, and jewelry equipment to complete repairs
  • Review job details and prioritize work to meet promised turnaround times
  • Inspect finished pieces to ensure craftsmanship and quality standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly care for tools
  • Follow all safety and chemical-handling procedures
  • Communicate with internal teams regarding repair questions or timelines

  • 1-2 years of professional jeweler or jewelry repair experience preferred
  • Ability to perform basic jewelry repairs with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination for working with small, intricate items
  • Familiarity with basic jewelry tools, soldering techniques, and polishing methods
  • Willingness and ability to develop intermediate repair skills through on-the-job training
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed repair instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple repair jobs and meet production timelines
  • Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative approach to supporting internal teams

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to work assigned schedule on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to see well enough to read small print with aid of minor magnification, size rings, set stones, re-tip prongs, detect unevenness in shanks and prongs, check quality of work on small parts or entire pieces of jewelry items, and read computer screens.
  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with others in person, via telephone and paging system.
  • Ability to move about the store from department to department, get behind narrow counter areas, and bend down or reach up into drawers/shelves.
  • Dexterity to write in small print, to hold on to and use all jewelers' tools, handle small jewelry/gift items while repairing, do repetitive motions with hands, and bend over and pick up dropped materials.
  • Stamina to sit for over eight hours and focus on small, detailed work.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment (i.e., elevated noise, steamer, minor dust, etc.).
  • Strength to push and exert pressure while using various jewelers' tools.
  • Ability to work with exposure to chemicals, low-voltage plating equipment, flammable materials, and fast-moving machinery.
