Job Summary/Basic Function

Pitching CoachPosition Summary

Responsible for aiding the Head Baseball Coach in all aspects of a Dickinson Baseball program, including but not limited to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, administration of practices, marketing and implementation of clinics, leadership development and game strategy.

Essential Functions
  • Team Management and Player Development:

    Oversee the management and mentoring of the men's baseball team, and specifically the pitching staff, by fostering a culture of accountability, discipline, and a strong team mentality. Assist with the strength and conditioning program for the baseball team. Reinforce the head coach's expectations for player behavior, commitment, and standards of performance both on and off the field. Help players develop their mental and mechanical skills while cultivating a positive, competitive team environment. 25%

  • Recruitment and Athlete Relations:

    Play a pivotal role in recruiting talented baseball student athletes to the program through scouting, evaluation, and communication with prospective student-athletes and their families. Manage the recruiting database (e.g., Front Rush/Slate) and clearly communicate the values and culture of the college and the baseball program during the recruiting process. Establish a strong pipeline of future student-athletes who align with the program's mission. 25%

  • Practice and Game Preparation:

    Assist the head coach in planning and coordinating daily team practices, ensuring that training sessions are purposeful and focused on developing both individual skills and team strategy. Must be able to throw batting practice and hit fungos. Contribute to game days through the scouting of opponents, and provide input into game plans and lineup decisions. Help analyze game film, create video analysis, and offer coaching feedback to improve team performance. 25%

  • Logistics and Team Operations:

    Coordinate all travel logistics for the baseball team, including organizing transportation, accommodations, and meal planning for away games and tournaments. Support the team's fundraising efforts and facilitate team events that promote community engagement and program growth. Assist with marketing and promotional activities, including managing communication with alumni, recruits, and the broader baseball community through social media, emails, and other. 15%

  • Field Prep:

    Coordinate with grounds grew to assist in field game prep. 10%

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Other duties as determined or assigned.

Supervision
  • Guides work of others who perform essentially the same work. May organize, set priorities, schedule and review work, but has no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance or make pay decisions.

Education/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, required.

  • Master's degree, preferred.

  • This position is subject to the Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearance consisting of the Pennsylvania Criminal History Record Information Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Certification, and Federal Criminal History Record Information Check pursuant to Pennsylvania law and Dickinson College policy.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
