Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Sport Administration or a related field. Two (2) years of collegiate or professional baseball coaching experience, preferably working with pitchers. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively as required.

Position Description:

The Pitching Coach assists in the execution of the Louisville Baseball pitching development program under the leadership of the Pitching Coordinator. This position supports the daily development of student-athlete pitchers through instruction, bullpen management, practice execution, scouting preparation, analytics integration, and player mentorship. The Pitching Coach will collaborate with coaching staff and support units to help maximize competitive performance, student-athlete growth, and overall program success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive pitching philosophy aligned with program goals and competitive standards.

  • Design and oversee daily pitching development plans, including bullpens, throwing programs, recovery protocols, and individualized improvement plans.

  • Analyze pitching performance using advanced technology and analytics tools

  • Prepare scouting reports and opponent game plans related to pitching and offensive tendencies.

  • Assist with in-game pitching management, including bullpen decisions, matchups, and strategy execution.

  • Recruit prospective student-athletes who fit the program's athletic, academic, and cultural standards.

  • Collaborate with strength and conditioning, sports medicine, nutrition, and mental performance staff to support holistic student-athlete development.

  • Monitor workload management and injury prevention strategies for pitchers.

  • Support academic success and personal development initiatives for student-athletes.

  • Ensure compliance with all NCAA, ACC, and University policies and procedures.

  • Assist with camps, clinics, alumni engagement, and community outreach initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pitching Coordinator.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience coaching at the Division I or professional level.

  • Proven success developing pitchers for professional baseball opportunities.

  • Experience recruiting high-level student-athletes.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team culture.

  • Familiarity with ACC and NCAA Division I regulations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of pitching mechanics, player development, and analytics.

  • Experience utilizing baseball technology platforms and data-driven development methods.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
