Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Personal Banker I is responsible for opening new deposit accounts and assisting customers with a wide range of banking needs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and laws. This role is focused on building new customer relationships and strengthening existing ones by delivering high-quality service and proactively identifying opportunities to cross-sell additional bank products and services, in accordance with the bank’s policies and procedures. As a representative of First Port City Bank, the Personal Banker consistently upholds and exemplifies the bank’s Core Values: Positive, Professional, and Productive.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively greet and welcome customers, establishing rapport and creating a friendly, inviting atmosphere in the branch.
  • Assess customer needs, educate customers on products and services; provide tailored recommendations and appropriate referrals. 
  • Open and maintain new consumer and commercial accounts, including demand deposit accounts, savings, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit.
  • Prepare and send new customer welcome letters; order customer checks.
  • Process domestic and international wire transfer requests.
  • Monitor customer information and transactions for suspicious activity, including identifying and reporting “Red Flags” to the BSA Officer in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Open new safe deposit boxes; service safe deposit boxes; maintain access controls and documentation.
  • Perform Customer Information File (CIF) maintenance, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist customers with online banking enrollment and troubleshooting.
  • Administer Voice Access systems for customers, as required.
  • Resolve complex ATM/debit card issues, including debit card issuance, problem resolution, and Reg E disputes in coordination with Deposit Operations. 
  • Scan and image documents, maintaining accurate and secure records.
  • Assist tellers as needed, including running a teller drawer, processing transactions,  completing end-of-day closing activities, and performing teller overrides, if authorized.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned to support branch performance and customer experience.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clearly explain credit card product offerings to customers and input consumer applications accurately and efficiently.
  • Process IRA (Individual Retirement Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) required minimum distributions (RMDs), contributions, and distribution requests in accordance with plan guidelines.
  • Attend annual IRA training sessions to stay current with regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services that best meet the customer’s needs, optimizing the customer relationship.
  • Adhere to branch operations standards, bank policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines to protect against risk and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a high level of vigilance to recognize and promptly report suspected fraud or unusual activity.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned to support the branch’s operational goals and customer service objectives.
