Job description

Pay Range: $27.18 - $36.25Responsible for underwriting equity or mortgageloan applications ensuring bank, policy, program, investor and insurer guidelines are adhered to. Assures the integrity of the decision by comparing the loan file and supporting documentationdata with system data for accuracy. Complies with all policies, procedures and regulations. Answers questions that pertain to policy and procedure ofHome Lending.

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of underwriting experience with satisfactory performance or equivalent experience 4 Year degree in business orequivalent education and experience desired

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong personal and/or real estate lending background, including various Investor and Insurer guidelines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong computer proficiency - i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet
  • Proficient understanding of Loan Origination and Automated Underwriting Systems
  • Proficient in analyzing self-employed borrowers
  • Strong mathematical skills

Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements:

NMLS Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.

Tasks Performed:

  • 50% Analyzes the income, assets, credit history and other relevant data through supporting documentation. Assures the integrity of the decision by comparing the loan file and supporting documentation data with the system data for accuracy. Determine which requests for financing should be accepted, rejected, or conditionally accepted, using all applicable information reasonably available. Complying with State and Federal regulations, Investor, Insurer, Bank, and Departmental guidelines and practices.
  • 25% Responsible for achieving established turnaround time and customer service goals. Provides excellent customer service by responding to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely and courteous manner. Proactively monitors various pipeline reports to assure all service level expectations are met. Maintaining workloads within established departmental objectives. Assists in other areas of the department when necessary. Maintains a positive attitude and works as a team player with management, co-workers and others.
  • 20% Recognize and takes advantage of opportunities to obtain additional business. Takes an active role in providing assistance to Processors and Loan Originators on all underwriting inquiries or issues. Keeps abreast of all bank, investor and insurer guidelines that relate to underwriting.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.
