Job Summary
Under general supervision, the AV Technologist II will set up & operate a variety of instructional technologies, video conferencing, and AV equipment, collaborating with faculty, staff, and students with an emphasis on excellent customer service. They will provide clear, concise, and diplomatic communications to resolve issues, and they will work as an integral part of the instructional support team to provide support for collaborative learning and presentations. The AV Technologist II will also provide tier II support, interacting with the Lead AV Technologist and the AV Engineering & Systems team. The AV Technologist II will work within a team-based environment and requires excellent communication skills among the team and customers. They will also mentor and train student AV support workers. They will be required to enter & resolve incidents/tasks into the ServiceNow service management system.
Weekend and evening support of events may be required as needed.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
SETS UP, TESTS & FACILITATES USE OF AUDIO/VISUAL TECHNOLOGY : Sets up, tests, and facilitates use of the audio/visual systems, video teleconferencing systems, lecture capture systems, audio conferencing systems, Zoom/MS Teams, computers, software, and related technology to support classroom teaching, meetings, and special events. Provides assistance and technical support to presenters to ensure successful presentations and use of audio/visual systems.
CONDUCTS PERIODIC INSPECTIONS OF AUDIO/VISUAL EQUIPMENT : Conducts periodic inspections of audio/visual equipment and classroom technologies to proactively identify potential issues and minimize risks to the client's effective use of the room's AV systems.
MONITORS AND SUPPORTS LIVE DELIVERY : Monitors and supports live delivery of instruction and special events utilizing audio conferencing and video conferencing learning technologies.
DIAGNOSE AND RESOLVE ISSUES : Diagnoses and resolves tier 1-2 level hardware and software issues.
PARTICIPATES IN RECOMMENDATIONS : Participates in the recommendation and development of reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
COORDINATION: Coordinates with other IT Teams to resolve escalated technical and functional issues
TRAINING AND MENTORING : Trains and mentors new AV student workers and new FT AV staff.
INVENTORY : Maintains inventory of audio/visual systems and checkout equipment.
OTHER DUTIES : Any other tasks/duties as may be assigned or necessary, including support of classes and events outside of the normal business hours.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of related experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of related experience OR High School diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and six years of related experience. Must maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in IT, Computer Repair, Electronics, Audio-Visual, Engineering, or related area; InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate. Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field. Experience working in Higher Education and/or Hospital environment. InfoComm Recognized AV Technologist Cert. Experience in assisting with documenting functional requirements and determining technical specifications. Experience in Windows and Macintosh hardware/software support. Experience with providing excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of teleconferencing, video conferencing, presentation systems, sound systems, SmartBoards, document cameras, wireless mic systems, Echo360 Lecture Capture, Zoom/MS Teams Web conferencing, Live streaming, and related audiovisual hardware found in classrooms, conference rooms, and event settings.
Knowledge of network connectivity.
Knowledge of using hand tools of the AV trade is a plus.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
SKILLS
Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
Must pay close attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to maintain the following attributes while under pressure from deadlines: technical capability, professionalism, self- motivation, self-discipline, and focus.
Must be able to climb ladders and lift in excess of 50lbs.
Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time.

Pay Band: B7
Salary: $20.29/hourly - $20.36/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
