Role Description

We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site Project Manager at BUILD IT Calgary. The Project Manager will oversee the execution and management of construction projects, ensuring that budgets are managed, safety standards are met, and all project control activities are efficiently executed.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience in project control, including scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing in commercial construction, including restaurant, hospitality, and retail sectors
  • Post-secondary education in Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; additional certifications such as PMP or BCIN are an asset
  • Solid understanding of construction financials and cost management
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and practices
  • Experience in construction management with proficiency in Procore and MS Project, and ability to lead diverse teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and teams
  • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Comfortable with regular on-site visits and standard construction-site PPE requirements


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee construction projects to meet scope, schedule, and client specifications. Coordinate resources and ensure timely delivery.
  • Budget Control: Monitor and manage project budgets with accurate cost reporting and accountability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams. Conduct team meetings and maintain collaboration.
  • Safety Oversight: Implement and enforce workplace safety protocols to maintain compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect sites to ensure work meets high-quality standards and client expectations.
  • Client Communication: Build and maintain strong client relationships with timely updates and issue resolution.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify risks early and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Secure required permits and ensure alignment with local codes and regulations.
  • Documentation Management: Use tools like Procore to track and log project data, including reports, RFIs, and approvals.
  • Mentorship & Strategic Planning: Train coordination teams, participate in KPI development, and contribute to organizational efficiency.
