Job description

Position: Architectural Designer

Level: Intermediate

Studio/Department: Architecture and Interior Design Studio

Based in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Madrid, Rockwell Group is an interdisciplinary architecture and design firm that emphasizes innovation and thought leadership in every project. Founded in 1984 by David Rockwell, FAIA, the 330-person firm merges performance and architecture to create extraordinary experiences and built environments across the globe. Inspired by theater, technology, and high-end craft, the firm creates a unique narrative for each project, ranging from hospitality to cultural and educational institutions to transportation hubs and Broadway sets.

Role Overview

Rockwell Group is seeking a full-time Architectural Designer to join our office in New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document design concepts for overall architectural designs and space planning
  • Sketch preliminary designs and produce collaborative 3D models (in Rhino and Revit) that reflect the proposed floor plans, RCPs, elevations, and FF&E
  • Create visualization from Rhino models with post-production work in Photoshop
  • Coordinate with project interior designers and project managers to ensure project completion in compliance with design intent

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in architecture, interiors, or design
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or design
  • Hospitality design experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with all project phases (Concept through Construction Administration), including built work
  • Strong experience in Rhino, Adobe Creative Cloud, Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Ability to render in V-Ray or Enscape
  • Knowledgeable in materials, finishes, millwork design, FF&E, and OS&E is preferred, but not required
  • Registered Architects are preferred, but not required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to meet fast-pace and changing deadlines
  • Highly motivated self-starter, with an attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for working on multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative teams

This is a full-time, in-studio position with hybrid/work-from-home flexibility, provided it does not interfere with responsibilities and complies with current office policy outlined in the Rockwell Group Handbook. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience ranging from $85,000 to $125,000 excluding bonuses and other benefits. This is a good faith estimate based on the expectations laid out in the job description. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and yearly performance reviews.
