Requirements
Overview
As an experienced and knowledgeable consultant, the Principal Consultant- Architectural Engineering serves as the project manager for complex assignments within their region, with a focus on building envelope systems. This role requires independent judgment, strong technical expertise, and a client-focused mindset to deliver high-quality solutions. The Principal Consultant maintains excellent client relationships, ensures compliance with company standards and procedures, and plays a key role in business development and practice growth.
What You'll Do
  • Manage and deliver complex restoration and consulting projects with minimal supervision
  • Design restoration solutions for building envelopes, including façades, roofs, and waterproofing systems
  • Conduct field inspections and document restoration work in progress
  • Lead by example and foster a positive, professional work environment
  • Complete assignments within your area of professional expertise
  • Assist with preparing proposals, scopes of work, and project approaches
  • Ensure reports, proposals, and other deliverables meet company standards and are properly signed and sealed
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by responding quickly to client concerns and resolving issues effectively
  • Support marketing and business development efforts, including maintaining and growing an existing book of business
  • Review draft invoices prior to final submission
  • Meet service expectations, including a guaranteed two-day turnaround for deliverables
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting and documenting existing façades, roofing systems, and waterproofing
  • Strong critical-thinking, judgment, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

Required Education, Experience & Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience with building envelopes, including restoration, consulting, and forensics
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license

The Salary Range for this position is $130,000 - $195,000 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, AND TRAVEL
Physical Demands - Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
Overtime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
Travel Requirements -
• 10% Overnight travel

• 50% In field
