Malvern Behavioral Health is currently looking for a full time Social Worker for our units in South Philadelphia. The Social Worker position is a full time position offering a wide range of health and welfare benefits as well as a competitive salary!
The role of the Social Worker is to provide quality psychotherapeutic and discharge planning services to all patients while also providing support to patient families. The Social Worker works as part of the patient treatment team and provides comprehensive assessment, group treatment, family work, and discharge planning. The Social Worker serves as a member of interdisciplinary team supporting the organizations' treatment program and philosophy.
Malvern Behavioral Health focuses on key stressors, provides individualized treatment, and works with each person to develop proper support, skills, and education so they can thrive in everyday life. Our trauma-informed and recovery-focused trained staff take great care to provide a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment.

All applicants for the Social Work position must obtain a Master's Degree is Social Work/Social Services. Preferably two years of experience working within a mental health setting. Previous hospital experience preferred. Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology and needs of various populations.
  • Knowledge of short term/acute care stabilization mental health treatment.
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral theory and systems theory.
  • Able to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Knowledge of appropriate assessments, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with patients, patient's family members, staff and community personnel.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and high ethical standards
  • Assessment skills for evaluating mental illness and substance abuse in clients age 18 and above.
  • Facilitation skills for leading process, psycho education, and multifamily groups.
  • Treatment skills for working with patients and their significant others on safety in one or two sessions.
  • Organizational and telephone skills for setting up aftercare appointments and placement.
  • Professional verbal and written skills for communicating the patient status and treatment needs to employees of the hospital, payers, families, professionals, paraprofessionals, and members of the patient's community.
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
