Job description

Facilities amp; Equipment Technician

New Mexico Piñon Coffee is seeking a skilled, dependable, and self-motivated Facilities amp; Equipment Technician to maintain and repair equipment and facilities across our cafés, production warehouse, and fulfillment center.

This full-time position plays an important role in keeping our operations safe, efficient, and running smoothly. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with experience in mechanical and electrical systems who can work independently, respond calmly to urgent situations, and provide professional service at every location.

Department: Engineering
Location: Comanche, with travel to other company locations
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Engineering

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial equipment, including:

    • Espresso machines, brewers, and grinders

    • Refrigeration equipment

    • Coffee roasters

    • Bagging, weighing, and filling machines

    • Industrial printers and heat sealers

    • Pallet jacks and other production equipment

  • Perform routine facility maintenance, including lighting, painting, landscaping, water-filtration systems, doors, and general repairs.

  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and assist with developing maintenance plans for all company locations.

  • Accurately document preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency service using the FIIX maintenance platform.

  • Provide employees with technical training on the proper operation and care of equipment.

  • Respond to roaster-fire emergencies and help ensure established safety procedures are followed.

  • Support compliance with OSHA, food-safety, GMP, and other applicable workplace standards.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent service when working with employees and managers in the field.

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the Engineering Department and company operations.

What We’re Looking For
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Hands-on skills in plumbing, welding, soldering, sanding, painting, and general repairs.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • The ability to work productively with limited direct supervision.

  • A cooperative, professional, and team-oriented approach.

  • Dependable attendance and the flexibility to respond to emergency service needs.

  • A valid driver’s license and current proof of personal automobile insurance.

  • Experience maintaining or repairing equipment in a food-manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Availability to work varied hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency assignments.

Physical and Work Requirements

This is a physically active, hands-on position. Qualified candidates must be able to:

  • Regularly bend, stoop, reach, twist, push, pull, stand, and walk throughout the workday.

  • Regularly lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Occasionally assist with lifting or moving equipment weighing more than 100 pounds.

  • Work safely around heavy machinery, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, electrical systems, noise, vibration, dust, heat, and other workplace hazards.

  • Perform work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
