Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. At Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), southwest of Salt Lake City Utah, SA-TECH supports the West Desert Test Center (WDTC), the nationโ€™s designated Major Range Test Facility Base (MRTFB) for chemical and biological defense. The WDTC plans, conducts, evaluates, reports, and supports Chemical and Biological (CB) and non-CB testing efforts for the Department of Defense (DoD), other federal agencies, private industries, and foreign Governments (e.g., environmental assessment/impact evaluations, weapons and munitions demilitarization, chemical energetics/homemade explosive testing, unmanned systems testing, direct and indirect fire weapons testing, hazard assessments, and technical/logistical support of operations at DPG).


At DPG, SA-TECH is looking to hire a Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) Technician / Aircraft Servicer onto our team to support program efforts and contribute to success at this major DoD Test Facility. This position provides aircraft ground services, petroleum operations, hazardous waste management, and airfield support while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense, environmental, and aviation safety requirements.


Specific duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide ground services for aircraft.
  • Fuel aircraft with Aviation Gasoline (AVGAS) and NATO Grade F-24 jet fuel.
  • Refuel and defuel aircraft and aviation support equipment.
  • Direct aircraft ground traffic, marshal aircraft, secure aircraft in parking positions, and provide additional flight line support.
  • Operate aviation ground support equipment and refueling vehicles.
  • Receive bulk and packaged POL products from government supply or commercial deliveries.
  • Load and unload POL products from storage facilities, aircraft, and transport vehicles.
  • Perform petroleum quality control inspections and testing, including API Gravity, Aqua-Glo, particulate, filter effectiveness, storage tank, and microbiological contamination testing in accordance with applicable Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Fuels Technical Letters and MIL-STD-3004 requirements.
  • Collect and submit fuel samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Perform operator-level maintenance and inspections on fuel dispensing systems, refueling trucks, pumps, hoses, filters, separators, and associated equipment.
  • Remove water and contaminants from filtration systems and ensure fuel quality standards are maintained.
  • Conduct petroleum inventory management, fuel accounting, replenishment ordering, daily fuel usage reporting, monthly reporting, and stock inventories.
  • Maintain required consumable POL supplies including testing materials, spill response equipment, and fueling supplies.
  • Maintain storage facilities and inspect for leaks, contamination, security concerns, or safety deficiencies, reporting discrepancies to the Airfield Manager.
  • Prepare for and support internal, customer, environmental, and regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel testing, inspections, inventories, hazardous waste accumulation logs, and environmental compliance documentation.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous waste minimization plans.
  • Conduct hazardous waste handling, containerization, labeling, storage, transportation, and documentation in accordance with applicable environmental regulations.
  • Conduct hazardous waste training and maintain associated training records.
  • Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers throughout assigned airfield facilities and daily inspections of refueling vehicle fire extinguishers.
  • Serve as the primary snow removal and runway sweeping technician for Michael Army Airfield (MAAF).
  • Serve as the MAAF Vehicle Control Point of Contact (POC), coordinating vehicle dispatching, preventive maintenance, inspections, licensing, and operator training.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the POL storage areas, vehicle parking areas, flight line, and assigned workspaces.
  • Attend environmental compliance meetings, complete all required government, and company training.
  • Comply with all aviation, environmental, fuel handling, hazardous materials, and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed outdoors under changing weather conditions.
  • Work is performed on active flight lines around operating aircraft, vehicles, fuels, and hazardous materials.
  • Must be familiar with aircraft flight line safety procedures and petroleum handling safety requirements.
  • May be required to respond during adverse weather conditions, including snow removal and runway maintenance operations.
  • May be required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, push, and pull for extended periods.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respiratory, hearing, eye, hand, and chemical protective equipment as required.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts in support of mission requirements.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience handling, testing, dispensing, and managing aviation fuels and petroleum products.
  • Specialized training in providing aircraft ground services and aviation fueling operations.
  • Experience fueling aircraft with Aviation Gasoline (AVGAS) and NATO Grade F-24 jet fuel.
  • Knowledge of aircraft refueling procedures and the ability to apply technical manuals and applicable regulations.
  • Experience operating aviation ground support equipment and refueling vehicles.
  • Experience performing petroleum quality assurance testing, fuel sampling, storage tank inspections, and fuel accountability.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, and applicable federal and Department of Defense regulations.
  • Experience maintaining hazardous waste records, SDS documentation, and environmental compliance files.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct aircraft ground traffic and safely support flight line operations.
  • Experience with snow removal equipment and runway sweeping operations is preferred.
  • Current Commercial Driver License (CDL) required or ability to obtain and maintain one as required by contract.
  • Current Driverโ€™s License required; must be able to be insured through companyโ€™s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must have a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical, as well as periodic retests.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driverโ€™s Record, and a Criminal Background Investigation.
