Are you as excited as we are when we talk about the storage and distribution of bulk liquids at our state-of-the-art tank containers and terminals in key markets? Join us as a Ship Operator.

In your role as a Ship Operator, you will manage the ship's commercial trading utilization through efficient cargo stowage, quality control practices, and voyage planning and execution, consistent with port, terminal, and regulatory restrictions. Your responsibilities will include maintaining effective communication with customers, sending operational instructions to ships, ensuring compliance with safety, regulations, and company procedures, and managing proper documentation for each voyage. Additionally, you will support incident handling and approve operational costs related to each voyage, constantly focusing on optimizing intake and decreasing costs.

Stolt Tankers, a division of Stolt-Nielsen Limited (SNL), is the specialist in transporting bulk liquids: chemicals, clean petroleum products, vegetable oils, biofuels, and oleochemicals. We are building a winning culture that is characterized by a safe, sustainable, and continuous improvement mindset. You will maintain regular communications with customers regarding ETA's and PTA's, reinforcing a transparent operational process. Your responsibilities will include sending logistical instructions to the ship's crew, always ensuring these align with safety and regulatory obligations. You will confirm operational instructions with the ship's Captain, ensuring all actions are compliant with industry standards. You will be responsible for overseeing voyage documentation, ensuring all logs and reports are accurate and complete. Collaborating closely with the Operations Manager, you will work on optimizing vessel routes and managing bunker consumption to reduce costs. Moreover, you will handle any voyage-related incidents, ensuring they are documented and resolved efficiently using relevant company procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain communication with customers regarding ETA's and PTA's and provide operational information.
  • Send operational or logistical instructions to ships while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and procedural requirements.
  • Confirm with ship's Captain that instructions can be executed safely according to laws and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational, commercial aspects, and cargo fixture requirements of the voyage.
  • Handle the proper documentation for each voyage and manage voyage-related incidents.
  • Review, approve, or reject operational costs and credits associated with voyages; Focus on optimizing intake, decreasing voyage and port-related costs, and planning bunker needs.

Qualifications

  • Preferable education in Logistics or Business; Maritime License (unlimited) is an advantage.
  • Experience ashore in the maritime industry in an operational role preferred, or sea-going experience as an Officer in charge of Navigation on Tankers.
  • Ability to see the big picture and understand how operational aspects contribute to results.
  • Strong prioritization skills and an established sense of urgency.
  • Calm and controlled demeanor, maintaining composure in sensitive situations.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Computer literacy is required.
