Job description

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.
NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.
Responsibilities:
  • Assemble complex electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies according to detailed diagrams and drawings.
  • Perform quality inspections and tests on assembled products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic assembly issues.
  • Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
  • Document and report production activities and any discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior production technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Currently serving as ACTIVE duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years as a technician or in a related field.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment.
  • Prior experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Basic skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Training certification.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
  • Stand for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
  • Ability to travel may be required.
  • For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
