Description
The Senior Firefighter protects and serves the public through fire prevention activities, emergency responses to fire, EMS, hazardous materials, and technical rescue incidents.
Examples of Duties
  • Drive emergency vehicles to calls for service
  • Operate pump and/or aerial device
  • Must be familiar with and able to perform all functions of on-scene emergency operations
  • Perform fire suppression and rescue activities to protect life and property
  • Perform other duties as required

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Maintain a valid Class "E" driver's license or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of continuous fire service.
  • All requirements must have been successfully completed for the rank of Firefighter and successfully complete the following courses:
    • Building Construction Awareness- 1123
    • Emergency Vehicle Driver Training- 1210
    • Pump Operations 1- 1220
  • Aerial Operations- 1250
  • Technical Rescuer- 3310
  • NIMS for the Fire Service
  • NREMT Certification as an EMT, AEMT, NRP
  • SC Licensed as an EMT, AEMT, or NRP

Supplemental Information
Sign on Bonus- $3,000 for certified individual. $1,500 for a new recruit.
Credit for years of service up to 10%
Up to 173 hours of built-in Overtime
Double time on Holidays worked
24/48 shift schedule

Advanced EMT - $2,000 bonus
Paramedic - $6,000 bonus
