Position Details
In-Patient Medical Coder, Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, Set schedule
Non-Exempt, Hourly, Union
Position Summary:
Provides coding for inpatient medical records with the ICD-10CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS classifications systems to ensure accurate, complete and consistent coding for quality data.
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, with formal advanced training in coding.
Licensure:
CPC, CCS or CIC certification required
Experience:
Five (5) years' experience in ICD-10CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding required. Must be knowledgeable in Medicare, Medicaid, and various third-party payers regarding admission and billing rules.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of medical terminology. Must be efficient and knowledgeable in all phases of hospital rules and regulations and follow hospital policy. CAH experience is preferred.
Computer skills required. Able to work with people in a tactful, diplomatic and professional manner. Able to remain pleasant and patient. Must possess good telephone skills. Ability to follow directions, grasp new ideas, and accept change. Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers. Reliable. Ability to do more than one task well. Ability to respond to criticism in an adult manner. Acceptance of responsibility.
Employment Requirements:
