Modeling and Simulation Specialist
Location: Fort Bragg, NC
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $97,000 - $102,000 annually
Position Overview
MKS2 is seeking a talented Modeling and Simulation Specialist to support the development and execution of virtual and constructive simulation environments for Army Mission Command and Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVCG) training systems. This position is responsible for creating VBS4 scenarios, developing 3D terrain databases and entities, producing simulation content, and supporting multimedia and scenario development activities for mission readiness and training exercises.
The Modeling and Simulation Specialist will work as part of a collaborative development team supporting Special Operations Mission Training Center (SOMTC) exercises while helping deliver realistic, immersive training environments that enhance operational readiness across military organizations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain VBS4 scenarios supporting military training, mission rehearsal, and Mission Command exercises.
  • Create and modify 3D terrain databases, terrain features, and simulation entities using industry-standard terrain-authoring tools.
  • Design and implement virtual and constructive simulation content for Army Mission Command and LVCG systems.
  • Develop realistic operational and tactical scenarios based on military training objectives.
  • Produce and edit multimedia content, including video products, graphics, and supporting training materials.
  • Configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain simulation environments to ensure operational readiness and functionality.
  • Support exercise planning, execution, rehearsals, and after-action review activities.
  • Collaborate with modeling and simulation developers, exercise planners, and government personnel to meet project requirements.
  • Assist with integration of terrain, scenario, intelligence, and operational data into simulation platforms.
  • Document simulation environments, development processes, and technical procedures.
  • Support system upgrades, content revisions, and scenario enhancements as required.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of related military experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience developing and maintaining VBS4 scenarios.
  • Experience with terrain-authoring software and 3D environment development tools.
  • Experience creating and supporting virtual and constructive simulation systems.
  • Experience with video editing, multimedia production, and scenario development.
  • Knowledge of military operations, training methodologies, and mission command concepts.
  • Experience developing simulation content that supports operational and tactical military training requirements.
Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as:
    • Java
    • C++
    • .NET Framework / C#
  • Experience with simulation databases, terrain generation, and scenario scripting.
  • Familiarity with military training simulation architectures and LVCG environments.
  • Knowledge of digital media production and content development tools.
Clearance
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Army Mission Command Training Programs or Special Operations Forces exercises.
  • Familiarity with Terra Vista DART, VBS4 development tools, and military terrain databases.
  • Experience developing geospatial content and realistic operational environments.
