Full Stack Software Engineer
The Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO) technology team is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive the design and delivery of scalable, enterprise-grade platforms supporting critical fund operations. This role is intended for a seasoned engineering leader who shapes technical direction, influences architectural decisions, and raises the engineering bar across teams.
In this role, you will partner closely with Architects, Tech Leads, Product Owners, and Senior Business Stakeholders to define long-term technical strategies, modernize platforms, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with business objectives. You will act as a trusted technical authority, mentoring engineers, and ensuring engineering excellence across the organization.
Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership for complex, multi-tier enterprise systems, from architecture and design through implementation and production support
  • Drive architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices across FFIO technology initiatives
  • Lead critical design reviews and influence solution choices to ensure scalability, security, resiliency, and maintainability
  • Partner with product and business leaders to translate strategic objectives into clear technical roadmaps and execution plans
  • Drive adoption of AI?assisted solutions (e.g., intelligent automation, anomaly detection, predictive insights) to improve operational efficiency and decision-making
  • Take ownership of complex technical challenges, performing root-cause analysis and guiding teams toward sustainable solutions
  • Mentor and coach senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and innovation
  • Coordinate and align technical deliverables across multiple internal teams and external vendors
  • Promote DevOps, CI/CD, and automation-first approaches to improve delivery speed and system reliability
Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-scale, multi-layered architectures using Java/J2EE and Spring Boot
  • Deep expertise in API architecture and design, including security, performance, versioning, and governance
  • Strong experience with web services, database schema design, and advanced SQL on Oracle databases
  • Proven track record of technical leadership, influencing architecture and engineering decisions beyond your immediate team
  • Advanced proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, release management, and version control best practices
  • Strong commitment to code quality and engineering rigor, including design reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD adoption
  • Experience driving application resiliency, observability, and production readiness in large-scale systems
  • Familiarity with Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines, Sonar, and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or HP Service Manager
  • Front-end exposure using Angular, HTML, and CSS, with the ability to guide full-stack design decisions
  • Hands on experience with Angular and UI technologies,
  • Hands-on experience with messaging and event-driven architectures, including Kafka and ActiveMQ
  • Prior experience with Calypso vendor platforms is preferred
  • Exposure to cloud-native architectures, container orchestration (e.g., AWS EKS), and emerging AI/ML technologies is a strong plus
  • Strong domain knowledge in financial services, particularly Fund or Investment Operations, is highly desirable
  • Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Preferred AI Experience:
  • Familiarity with AI services, frameworks, or platforms (e.g., cloud-based AI services, model integration via APIs, responsible AI practices)
  • Ability to evaluate where AI adds practical business value versus traditional solutions

The Team
The Derivative and Collateral Management (DCM) team is responsible for processing derivative and repurchase (repo) trades for banks and downstream applications, as well as managing the associated collateral. The team operates a suite of microservices developed in Java using the Spring Boot framework. These services are designed to capture trade canonical data and collateral files, perform necessary data transformations, and transmit the processed information to Calypso, a Nasdaq-licensed platform. Calypso handles trade calculations, collateral processing, and settlement activities with banking institutions. The DCM team plays a critical role in supporting Fidelity's derivative and repo trading operations and collateral management, while also enabling the onboarding of new business lines such as alternative investments, options trading, and other emerging asset classes.
Note: If you are a FINRA registered internal employee who is considering moving to a non-licensed role, you may want to proactively have a conversation with the hiring manager to understand the potential impact to your registrations before a final hiring decision is made.
