Position Summary
This role serves as the second-in-command for the Chattanooga Distribution Center, providing day-to-day operational leadership while supporting the Senior Director of Operations in executing strategic initiatives, developing leaders, driving operational excellence, and preparing the operation for future growth and automation. The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of Adorama's 238,000-square-foot eCommerce Fulfillment Distribution Center, supporting approximately 80-110 associates across inbound, inventory, fulfillment, and shipping. The role balances daily operational execution with strategic initiatives, ensuring the operation meets today's performance expectations while preparing for future growth and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Lead Receiving, Putaway, Inventory Control, ICQC, Replenishment, Picking, Packing, and Shipping processes.
  • Own and proactively plan for daily execution, labor planning, workflow, and customer commitments.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration, including shared labor management.
Operational Performance Management
  • Own KPIs including SLA, RPH, labor utilization, inventory accuracy, quality, safety, throughput, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain daily operational scorecards and KPI dashboards.
  • Use data to drive decisions and corrective actions.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Coach and develop managers, supervisors, and team leads.
  • Build accountability and succession strength.
  • Create a respectful, collaborative culture with clear expectations.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead root-cause investigations.
  • Standardize, document, audit, and sustain processes.
  • Improve productivity, warehouse flow, and storage utilization.
Planning, Projects & Business Management
  • Support annual operating plans, labor forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Lead peak planning and execution.
  • Lead cross-functional operational projects including process improvements, layout changes, and technology implementations.
  • Support capacity planning and operational readiness.
Future Readiness
  • Support warehouse automation, Goods-to-Person (GTP) initiatives, and technology adoption.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in distribution or fulfillment operations, including at least 5 years in a high-volume B2C/eCommerce fulfillment environment.
  • Experience leading operations through managers and supervisors.
  • Strong KPI management and labor planning.
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional operational initiatives.
  • Proven success developing leaders and improving operational performance.
  • Strong analytical, coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Warehouse automation or Goods-to-Person (GTP) experience.
  • Lean / Six Sigma background.
