Job description

We're seeking a Regional Director of Fuel Logistics to provide strategic and hands-on leadership for fuel logistics and dispatch operations across our West region. This role is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of fuel products while driving service excellence, cost discipline, and margin performance. The Regional Director partners with Sales, Supply, Operations, Safety, and HR leadership to align logistics execution with customer commitments and overall business strategy.
This is a highly visible, safety-sensitive leadership role requiring strong operational expertise, people leadership, and the ability to drive consistency and continuous improvement across geographically dispersed teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage regional fuel logistics and dispatch operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery while meeting service, cost, and margin objectives.
  • Standardize regional operating procedures, performance metrics, and best practices to promote consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional logistics leaders and dispatch teams, focusing on workforce planning, succession readiness, and leadership growth.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company safety standards; proactively mitigate operational, regulatory, and safety risks.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex operational, customer, or safety issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align logistics capacity, customer commitments, and operational execution with broader business goals.
  • Monitor regional performance via KPIs including on-time delivery, cost per load, utilization, safety incidents, driver productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives around routing optimization, cost reduction, asset utilization, and service reliability.
  • Oversee talent management, including coaching, performance reviews, corrective action, and employee engagement.
  • Lead and support regional change initiatives such as system implementations, process standardization, acquisitions, and market expansions.
  • Travel extensively (approximately 50%+) to regional locations to provide hands-on leadership and operational oversight.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in logistics, fuel distribution, dispatch operations, or transportation management, including regional or multi-site oversight.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Experience leading multi-location teams is required.
  • Strong operational, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of transportation management systems, routing and optimization tools, safety platforms, and vehicle telematics.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Experience coaching leaders, conducting performance evaluations, and managing corrective actions in partnership with HR.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to leverage dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%+) and reside within reasonable commuting distance of the assigned home base.
