In this role you'll be responsible to maintain, adjust, diagnose, and make periodic inspections of electrical and mechanical equipment at Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and EV stations such as but not limited to control panels, actuators, pumps, valves, meters, and other various equipment in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. 

Job Functions:  

  • Drive a company vehicle to or between company sites to perform daily preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on equipment related to hydraulic, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and EV Charging stations at Love’s Travel Stop’s facilities and various third-party customers. 

  • Repairs, replaces, and adjusts malfunctioning equipment to include but not limited to compressors, pumps, engines, intercoolers, piping, valves, fittings, actuators, gas dryers and other functional components in accordance with manufacturers recommendations and standard operating procedures. 

  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections as required documenting all activity to include work performed during inspections, parts consumed, and any additional pertinent details in applicable online platforms. 

  • Retain knowledge of and comply with, all applicable federal, state, local and company rules/regulations that are in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation working around Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Hydrogen, Biodiesel, and EV Charging stations. 

  • General Maintenance of stations to include but not limited to, picking up and emptying trash cans, cleaning fueling equipment, canopy, fueling lots, surrounding landscape maintenance in, around, or outside of fueling enclosures.   

  • Maintains professional communication with dispatch, peers, Management, and other entities as needed/required. 

  • Follow all company guidelines regarding professional conduct when dealing with customers, fellow employees, vendors, and the motoring public. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Experience and Qualifications:  

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 

  • High School diploma or GED (accredited) required. 

  • Valid Driver’s License and meet state requirements as required by law. 

  • Knowledge and/or experience in electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and mechanical STRONGLY preferred. 

  • Industry verbal and written communication skills, data entry, attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to multitask with excellent time management skills. 

  • Ability to interpret and utilize service software AND have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. 

  • Ability to execute mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to diagnose and accomplish necessary repairs.

Physical Demands:  

  • Availability to respond to on-call service requests, 24/7 and 365 days per year.  

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 

  • Ability to walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat and climb as needed to perform routine inspections and maintenance. 

  • Physically able to operate a motorized vehicle, walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat, climb, type on computer keyboard, and use of required hand tools, to perform routine inspections and maintenance as needed. 

  • Willingness to operate under all types of weather conditions. 

  • Required travel as needed. 

  • Required to provide own tools to perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment.
