Job Description
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing banquet and event service operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. This position serves as the lead point of contact during events, coordinating banquet staff, monitoring service standards, and ensuring all event details are executed efficiently and professionally. The Banquet Captain works closely with management, culinary teams, and event staff to support successful event operations and guest satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
    • Supervise banquet servers and support staff during meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events.
    • Coordinate event setup, service execution, and breakdown according to event orders and client specifications.
    • Conduct pre-event meetings to review event details, service expectations, and staff assignments.
    • Monitor banquet service to ensure timely and professional food and beverage delivery.
    • Inspect banquet rooms and event spaces to ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and presentation standards are met.
    • Act as the primary contact for banquet service staff during events and address operational issues as they arise.
    • Communicate effectively with culinary, catering, and management teams to ensure seamless event execution.
    • Assist with training, coaching, and developing banquet staff on service standards and guest relations.
    • Handle guest requests, concerns, and special accommodations in a professional and timely manner.
    • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and workplace safety standards.
    • Verify event details, timelines, and service requirements prior to guest arrival.
    • Assist with inventory management and the proper care of banquet equipment, supplies, and company assets.
    • Complete event documentation and provide feedback regarding operational successes and opportunities for improvement.
    • Support additional food and beverage operations as needed.

Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, hospitality, or food and beverage experience required.
    • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of banquet service standards and event operations.
    • Excellent guest service and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Basic computer and administrative skills preferred.
    • Knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol service practices.
    • Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
    • Ability to transport banquet equipment, tables, chairs, and service items as needed.
    • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor event environments.
    • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as applicable.
