Job description

The Sales Representative is responsible for managing and growing assigned customer accounts while developing new business opportunities within the peanut and nut-based product markets. This role involves active sales within the food manufacturing sector, including working with food distributors, processors, retail customers, and development of brokerage network. The position builds strong relationships with customers and brokers, supports and creates pricing and program execution, and ensures orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers and Food Brokers, ensuring consistent communication and relationship development. 
  • Work directly with brokers to support new customer development, pricing requests, sampling, and program execution.
  • Retain and grow current customer sales volume and profitability through proactive relationship management and service support. 
  • Maintain accurate customer information, pricing details, and contract terms. 
  • Ensure customer needs are clearly communicated to internal departments and issues are resolved promptly. 
  • Work closely with Production, Logistics, and QA to ensure order accuracy, shipment schedules, product quality, and documentation requirements are met. 
  • Support the coordination of COAs, COIs, product specifications, allergen statements, and other required documents through FSQA. 
  • Monitor assigned orders and proactively identify potential service or supply concerns. 
  • Assist customers with inquiries, complaints, and service requests in a timely, professional manner.
  • Identify new business opportunities through broker partnerships, inbound inquiries, and industry networking. 
  • Present company products and value propositions to prospective customers.
  • Participate in the implementation of company sales initiatives and promotional strategies. 
  • Support opportunities to expand product or category distribution based on customer and broker feedback. 
  • Assist with preparing customer quotes and pricing proposals as directed by Sales Leadership. 
  • Help monitor margins and account-level profitability to support sustainable growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, pipeline progress, and sales forecasts. 
  • Support Accounting with invoice accuracy and payment follow-up when needed. 
  • Stay informed on industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity. 
  • Participate in trade shows, customer visits, and industry events as assigned. 
  • Professionally represent the company and maintain positive business relationships.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the Sales Department and business operations. 
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing sales, account management, customer service, or a related manufacturing business role. 
  • Experience building and maintaining customer relationships in a B2B environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor. 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and priorities. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customers, brokers, trade shows, and company sites as required/needed. 
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and customer information. 
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in food manufacturing, ingredients, agriculture, commodities, or CPG sales.
  • Prior experience working with Food Brokers or distributor networks. 
  • Knowledge of food safety documentation and FSMA requirements (COAs, COIs, allergens disclosures, product specs, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with industrial, retail private-label, or bulk food markets.
  • Experience using a CRM system or other sales tracking /reporting tools. 
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities. 
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales targets. 
  • Ability to analyze customer data, volume trends, or pricing structures. 
Physical Requirements  
  • Ability to sit or remain at a workstation for prolonged periods (typically 6-8 hours per day).
  • Occasional standing, walking, or moving between departments or meeting areas.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, phone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move office items such as files, binders, or small packages (typically up to 20 lbs). 
  • Visual acuity to read computer screens, documents, and reports. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email. 
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels and climate-controlled conditions. 
  • Occasional travel between buildings or go to external meetings may be required (minimal). 
  • Ability to maintain focus, attention to detail, and accuracy in a fast-paced office setting.
