How much do front end developer internship jobs pay per year?
What is a front end developer internship?
A Front End Developer Internship is an entry-level position where you gain hands-on experience in building and designing the user interface of websites and web applications. Interns typically work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular to develop responsive and interactive web pages. They collaborate with designers, backend developers, and product teams to implement features and improve user experience. This internship helps build practical coding skills, provides exposure to industry tools, and can serve as a stepping stone to a full-time front-end development role.
What types of projects or responsibilities can I expect during a front end developer internship?
As a Front End Developer Intern, you can expect to work on real web application features such as building interactive UI components, fixing bugs, writing clean and maintainable code, and assisting in website optimization for performance and accessibility. You may collaborate closely with designers to translate design mockups into functional interfaces and join code reviews with other developers to improve your skills. The role typically involves using industry-standard tools like Git and task management platforms, providing hands-on experience in a professional development workflow. This environment is an excellent opportunity to strengthen your technical abilities and contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a front end developer internship, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Front End Developer Intern, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a keen eye for user interface design, often supported by coursework or personal projects in web development. Familiarity with tools and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js, as well as version control systems such as Git, can be highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively within a team set exceptional candidates apart. These skills and qualities are vital for developing user-friendly, visually appealing web applications while collaborating efficiently in a dynamic tech environment.

Job description
For over 30 years, Cook Systems has partnered with organizations across the country to solve technology challenges and build strong technology teams. As a veteran-owned IT consulting company, we combine decades of industry experience with a continued focus on how technology, AI, and the way people work are evolving.
Our work spans technology consulting, talent development, and AI-enabled solutions. We value people who take ownership, adapt quickly, communicate well, and care about the quality of their work. Whether you're early in your career or bringing years of experience, you'll have the opportunity to keep building your skills, contribute to meaningful client work, and grow with a company that continues to evolve with the industry.
Launch Your Software Development Career with FastTrack
Our September cohort begins soon!
Cook Systems is seeking motivated developers for FastTrack, our free, selective 8-week online program designed to build full-stack development capabilities and prepare qualified participants to launch or advance their software development careers through opportunities with Cook Systems clients.
FastTrack is built for developers who already have a technical foundation and are ready to take the next step. This is not an introductory coding program. Participants are expected to enter with programming experience and the ability to build software.
Why FastTrack?
Building a career in software development can be difficult, even when you already have the skills to build software-especially in a market where developers are increasingly expected to work across technologies and use AI effectively.
FastTrack helps close the gap between having a development foundation and being ready to contribute across the stack on a professional technology team.
FastTrack operates on a high-trust model. There is no tuition, no income-share agreement, and no repayment agreement. In return, we ask participants to take the opportunity seriously: communicate, do the work, collaborate, respond to feedback, remain committed throughout the program, and give Cook Systems a fair opportunity after graduation to help connect you with client opportunities.

What You'll Develop
FastTrack is an intensive learning and development program that builds from backend development to frontend development and full-stack application development.
Technical areas include:
- Java and object-oriented programming
- Spring and Spring Boot
- REST APIs and web services
- SQL and relational databases
- JavaScript and TypeScript
- Angular
- Git and collaborative development workflows
- Testing, debugging, and code quality
- Full-stack application development
- Agile development practices
You'll apply those skills through hands-on development, collaborative projects, and technical assessments.
The program also includes career-readiness content designed to help participants better understand the expectations of professional software teams. Topics may include communication, collaboration, interviewing, and working effectively with clients and teammates.
FastTrack also prepares you for a development environment where generative AI is part of the developer toolkit. You'll learn to use AI to support development work while building the judgment to evaluate its output and use it effectively and responsibly.
Who Should Apply?
FastTrack is selective and designed for aspiring and early-career developers who already have a technical foundation but still have room to develop their capabilities across the full stack.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Have hands-on programming experience
- Have built software applications or development projects
- Have experience with Java or another object-oriented programming language
- Have a foundation in frontend, backend, or web development and want to build greater capability across the full stack
- Are comfortable learning independently and working through technical challenges
- Are comfortable being assessed on your technical skills
- Work well with others and are receptive to feedback
- Are serious about pursuing professional software development opportunities
Your experience may come from professional work, an internship, college coursework, a boot camp, technical training, or substantial independent projects. What matters is that you already have a foundation in software development and are ready to build on it.
You do not need to already be a full-stack developer-that is the gap FastTrack is designed to help you close. FastTrack is not designed for candidates with no prior software development experience or for experienced developers who have already established themselves as full-stack software engineers.
What to Expect
Admission to FastTrack is selective, and applicants should expect a screening process that evaluates whether they have the technical foundation needed to succeed in the program. FastTrack is an unpaid learning and development program, not an employment position. Once admitted, participants should expect to devote approximately 25-30 hours per week for 8 weeks to structured learning, assignments, assessments, projects, collaboration, and career preparation.
Successful completion of FastTrack does not guarantee employment or placement. Qualified graduates may be considered for opportunities with Cook Systems clients based on available opportunities, client requirements, and individual fit.
If you have already invested in becoming a developer and are ready to strengthen your skills and pursue the next step in your career, we encourage you to apply. Learn more at allaboutfasttrack.com.
