As an Entry Level Software Developer, you'll be part of a highly collaborative team working alongside architects, engineers, and business stakeholders. You'll contribute to designing and building modern software solutions, gaining hands-on experience with emerging technologies while developing strong foundations in software engineering.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain software features using modern programming languages and frameworks, contributing to front-end, back-end, or full stack solutions.
• Work as part of an Agile team to design, code, test, and deliver applications, learning CGI's engineering practices and collaborating closely with peers.
• Apply emerging technologies-such as generative AI, cloud platforms, automation tools, or DevOps practices-based on project needs and team direction.
• Build and integrate APIs, data connections, and service components that enable secure and reliable system interoperability.
• Support debugging, troubleshooting, and performance improvements across application and system components.
• Work with databases, data models, and queries to support application functionality and basic analytics or reporting needs.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate coding, documentation, and testing, validating outputs through reviews and best practices.
• Document code, designs, and processes to support maintainability, clarity, and future enhancements.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical, scalable software solutions.
This role includes opportunities to focus on application development, data and analytics, cloud-ready delivery, or a blend-based on project needs and your professional interests.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineer or related field
• Foundational experience with software development in languages such as Java, C#, .NET, Python, C++, or JavaScript, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Foundational experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular
• Working knowledge of SQL and basic familiarity with REST APIs and integration concepts
• Ability to learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies quickly
• Strong analytical thinking paired with clear written and verbal communication skills
• Adaptability, curiosity, and comfort working in collaborative, team-oriented environments
• Understanding of SDLC fundamentals, including basic testing practices and application development principles
• Familiarity with cloud concepts or hybrid/multi-cloud environments (coursework or projects welcome)
• Ability to work in the U.S. permanently and without restriction
