Position Title - Student Intern - Public Safety Aide

Position Type - Temporary Part-Time

Hiring Location - Stanton/George Campus-Newark, DE/Wilmington, DE

Salary - $11.75/hr

Position Pay Grade - B/C 01

Summary Statement - An aide would be responsible for assisting the College's Public Safety Office as directed by on duty constables, managers or Public Safety Chief.

Nature and Scope - A class incumbent typically reports the Public Safety Office supervisor and performs Public Safety duties as directed. A significant aspect of this work involves assisting staff, students and faculty on a regular basis. The work may involve routine tasks such as making students ID's, signing in visitors, and unlocking classroom doors as necessary or directed. Completion of additional routine tasks may be required and ordered by the on-duty supervisor. Principle contacts will be with officers, supervisors, staff, students and campus visitors.

Principal Accountabilities - ANINCUMBENTMAYPREFORMANYCOMBINATIONOFTHEBELOWLISTEDACCOUNTABILITIES:1) Maintain a safe campus through foot patrol, bicycle and/ or motor vehicle to ensure compliance with all public safety policies.2) Communicates any concerns or issues to the appropriate officer or supervisor.3) Enforce the College's ID policy while assigned to the lobby/front desk.4) Provide information to callers regarding campus procedures, operations and contact locations.5) Lend assistance to any staff, students or visitor as required.6) Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Ability to deal effectively with people.Ability to remain alert and act calmly in all situations.Ability to understand oral and written instructions.Ability to communicate effectively.Knowledge of safe operations of motor vehicles and/or bicycle.CPR/First Aid trained (must be completed within the first six months of hire).

Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or GED.
