About the Role:
Proyecto Salud Clinic located in Silver Spring, MD is looking for a motivated and compassionate Medical Administrative Assistant / Front Desk Staff to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be the welcoming face of our organization while playing a vital role in keeping our medical office running smoothly. Responsibilities:
  • Greet and check in patients at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and process billing and co-pays
  • Ensures patients' fees are collected according to sliding fee scale and accounting policies
  • Maintain and update accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Answer and route incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to clinical staff
  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments as needed
  • Explains policies, procedures and services available to patients.
  • Ensure front desk area is organized, stocked, and HIPAA-compliant at all times
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office, healthcare, or administrative support role
  • 1+ years of experience in Customer Service
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm in a busy front desk environment
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus
  • Medical Assistant certificate a plus.
