The Terminal Manager will be responsible for overseeing performance of the terminal which will include; oversite and management of the dispatch operations team, responsible for contractor retention, creating and executing the daily schedule plan, operational costs, managing all activities of the team, as well as identifying process improvements and efficiencies within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily operations and execution of plan ensuring the highest level of company expectations
- Manage and oversee all dispatch and assist when necessary
- Manage routes from customers and driving efficiencies between lanes to maximize revenue per truck
- Monitor rates while dispatching to ensure contracted percentage payout is accurate with company standards
- Supervise office staff: handling employee problems and discipline, and making administrative decisions on unique exceptions/situations
- Work closely with Safety, Dispatch, and Customer Service to guarantee we're exceeding the expectations of our contractors and customers
- Approve office payroll, time off, terminal expenses, per diems, and chassis charges
- Ensure audit compliance within all areas of the operation
- Report on Key Performance Indicators relating to business performance
- Oversee yearly business budgets and P/L responsibilities
Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years' experience managing a large trucking fleet in the intermodal industry is a must; international/import experience a plus
- Must possess strong communication amp; writing skills necessary to communicate with internal and external customers, as well as all levels of operations
- Must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, and ability to execute tasks at a high level
- Familiar with the Owner/Operator model within the transportation industry
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Outlook and Excel
- Knowledge and experience on PortPro a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with solid organization skills
- Flexibility to work as needed
