Job Description

The Behavioral Health Technician will provide direct patient care activities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and patient care plans. You will ensure a positive and safe environment for patients by offering comfort, empathy, and encouragement throughout their treatment. You will assess patients and gather relevant data to support their care and treatment outcomes. You will collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver quality, safe care and contribute to the overall treatment team. You will notify the manager of any significant patient care issues that arise during your shifts. You will complete all required certifications and training within specified timeframes to maintain compliance and professional standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of college-level coursework in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or a related field; OR at least one year of professional experience as a Behavioral Health Technician or in a comparable healthcare role (such as Emergency Medical Technician)
  • Demonstrated ability to safely and therapeutically manage patient interactions and physical care needs
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate, empathetic support to patients in crisis
  • Strong analytical and assessment capabilities to gather and interpret patient data effectively
  • BLS Heartsaver Certification (to be completed during orientation and maintained throughout employment)
  • WELLE training certification (to be completed within the first three months and maintained as required)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of professional experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting
