Job description

Position: Geologist
Job Status: Contractor
Introduction:

  • The Geologist will evaluate surface and subsurface information for identifying, characterizing, and extracting deposits of an antibacterial clay suitable for mining for human and animal health use.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform surface and subsurface studies of clay deposits located near Crater Lake, Oregon, working as a member of an inter-disciplinary team to bring the deposit into full production.
  • Locate additional deposits for future exploration and mining.
  • Review and interpret all surface and subsurface data, including past drill holes and ongoing bulk sampling work. This work will be used to help ensure that the quality of the clay needed for human and animal use is being provided, directing all geological aspects to the onset and continued production of this product.
  • The geologists will initially work with two senior geologists who have supported the project to date with extensive surveying of the mining claims and surrounding area to compile a comprehensive report of findings and conclusions to date and recommended next steps.

Elements of the Role:

  • Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Professional knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of geology, especially mineral deposits and mineralogy of the clay minerals, supplemented by experience in their application.
  • Knowledge of geophysical survey interpretation in order to identify subsurface lithologic rock types.
  • Knowledge and application of geochemistry to identify surface and subsurface lithologic rock types and anomalies.
  • Knowledge of mineral deposit sampling techniques and geochemical data interpretation.
  • Knowledge of drill hole logging and collecting drill hole cuttings and core samples.
  • Practical knowledge of recognizing and utilizing the great variety of geological data (such as porosity, water saturation, subsurface faulting, Eh/pH readings, clay mineralogy, etc.) for graphically and numerically describing and representing the clay deposits.
  • Practical knowledge of U.S. land surveys and land ownership laws to assist legal teams in acquisition and maintenance of mineral rights and exploration and development permit processes.
  • Supervisory Elements: Work with a team of professionals led by Mineral Research Partners CEO, mining and environmental engineers, and lawyers familiar with the mining and environmental laws.
  • Plan and carry out assignments independently in accordance with proven techniques, practices, and previous experience, while coordinating closely with the team. Refer unusual issues to the MRP CEO, along with recommendations for a course of action. Work is evaluated for adequacy, soundness of conclusions, and accomplishment of specific objectives in a timely manner.
  • Complexity: Assignments consist of specific tasks related to the exploration and development of complex clay mineral deposits. Subsurface depths involved will be less than 100 feet.
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment: The work is mostly performed online at home. Geologist may occasionally visit the mine area to assist in field work, thereby occasionally being exposed to the risks and discomforts of field activity.

Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Earth Sciences or equivalent
Strong verbal and written communication skills
