Barrick has an opening for a Superintendent, Resource Geology.  The Superintendent, Resource Geology is a critical role leading and developing resource geology teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, fit-for-purpose resource models. The position aligns with Barrick's DNA, supporting safe and efficient mining operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive our Zero Harm culture and provide overall leadership and support of our DNA, utilizing every possible opportunity to demonstrate alignment. 
  • Own and ensure compliance to BGNA standards and guidelines for resource estimation.
  • Own and ensure compliance to Resource Geology Role Responsibilities & Rolling Annual Outputs. 
  • Own timely delivery of resource models to agreed dates with stakeholders.
  • Escalate material changes, risks or opportunities to the Manager, Resource Geology & Chief Geologist as you discover them. 
  • Own timely delivery of R&R Reporting and other documentation Outputs at the direction of the Lead, R&R Reporting and Chief Geologist.
  • Own weekly cadence & key priorities meetings with District MRMs, plus other key stakeholders as required, including a summary report sent to MRM SLT. 
  • Ensure Resource Geologists are at their respective sites for 2-3 days per week on average, otherwise based at GQ Admin for central collaboration 1/3 of their time. 
  • Manage daily activities of resource geology teams and ensure timely organization of technical support and review liaising with BGNA Subject Matter Experts. 
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or equivalent required
  • Master's degree or Post-Graduate education in geostatistics or equivalent preferred
  • Extensive experience in resource geology and estimation, including managerial roles in mining geology and/or mineral exploration required
  • Comprehensive knowledge in practical resource estimation, applied mining geology, 3D geological modeling domaining, as well as a strong geostatistical foundation required
  • Demonstrated knowledge in 3D modelling, database, and other relevant mining software packages (e.g. Vulcan, Leapfrog, AcQuire, Excel) required
  • Basic knowledge of mineral processing and extraction methods preferred
  • Practical knowledge and/or experience in drilling, sampling and assaying methods as well as QAQC procedures as applied to drilling, sampling and assaying preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, technical and analytical skills required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools required
  • Experience in the exploration for and interpretation of Carlin-style and related structurally controlled gold deposits preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively drive, plan, coordinate and complete projects in a timely manner required
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to work within a team environment and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to coach and mentor modelers with advanced geostatistics and champion best-practice resource workflows required
  • Ability to be a Competent / Qualified person as defined by JORC and NI 43-101 standards preferred
