They analyze geological data, interpret maps, and provide recommendations for mineral exploration or mining operations using digital tools and remote sensing technology. Their work may include reviewing core samples, assessing resource estimates, and collaborating virtually with field teams or mining companies. With the advancement of data sharing and remote sensing, many geologists can now conduct much of their analysis and reporting without being physically present at mining sites.

What are the typical challenges faced by a From Home Mining Geologist, and how can they be managed effectively?

A From Home Mining Geologist often encounters challenges related to remote data analysis, limited access to on-site samples, and coordinating with field teams. Managing these challenges typically involves leveraging advanced geological software, maintaining clear communication channels with on-site staff, and staying updated with remote sensing technologies. Building strong relationships with field geologists and regularly participating in virtual team meetings can also help ensure that interpretations and recommendations are accurate and actionable.

  • Review and validate resource and reserve statements, geological databases, QA/QC data, mine designs, schedules, costs, and technical reports
  • Prepare and present high-quality geological interpretations and resource estimates to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Ensure orebody knowledge is clearly communicated and embedded across the broader business
  • Collaborate with reconciliation geologists and operations teams to identify trends, close performance gaps, and strengthen model confidence
  • Conduct technical investigations and research to support continuous improvement and innovation

  • Write clear, impactful technical reports that explain workflows, business impacts, and identified risks or opportunities
  • Respond to technical queries from engineering, operations, and other stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading by example and ensuring compliance with all HS&E policies and procedures

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Mining Engineering, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline
