Position Description
The Tele-Health RN is considered a clinical care educator and an important role in our specialty pharmacy team. The RN is passionate and is committed to provide a high level of patient care and counseling patients enrolled in the Medication Therapy Program. The RN shall possess great communication skills, problem solving skills, and must be self-motivated. This person is driven to help team members to achieve the mission of providing high level of care to patients. The RN position is key within the Specialty Pharmacy. This position will support pharmaceutical care activities including interacting with patients and/or caregivers by completing manufacture checklist for specific drugs, patient assessments, patient follow up assessment calls for adverse events and work closely with the clinical team supervisors to ensure overall performance of any program, ensuring the team meets and/or exceeds program Service Level Agreements (SLA). This position will work collaboratively with other departments to ensure patient care and ensure business rules are adhered to.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Counsel and educate new/existing patients/caregivers on specialty drug therapies, including education
support on disease specific processes, treatment options, management of side effects, self-care
measures, community resources and end of life or palliative care issues.
-Adherence to contracted and accrediting regulations as indicated by drug specification.
-Complete, thoroughly and accurately, documentation utilizing good documentation practice and
compliance to industry standards and regulations.
-Discuss potential/current side effects with patients to educate about treatment alternatives and facilitate
ongoing therapy adherence.
-Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to the manufacturer, FDA, and/or
other governing authorities.
-Specialty drug verification and shipping verification for prescription medication.
-Works in cooperation with all other pharmacy departments to ensure patient care.
-Works to prioritize and multi-task to ensure daily activities are completed in a timely manner
-Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership in the practice of nursing and medication
therapy management.
-Ability recognize physical and psychological aspects of care using telephonic assessment skills.
-Promote patient adherence to the prescribed regimen and assist with control and treatment of side effects
caused from dispensed medications.
-Work with supervisory staff to continually develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost
effective services.
-All other responsibilities as assigned by the clinical supervisors.
-Maintain computer compliance training provided by employer or their affiliates.
Minimum Requirements:
-5 or more years of registered experience with at least 1 year of acute inpatient care preferred
Critical Skills:
-Attention to detail
-Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities in a changing environment.
-Understanding of Key Performance Indictors and Metrics
-Effective communication skills; both written and oral.
-Ability to obtain licensing in all states and United States territories serviced within 3 months of
employment through Biologics supported programming (minimal application guidelines apply);
-Computer skills, including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based programs.
-Effective orally and in writing communication, experience with motivational interviewing preferably.
-Ability to read, analyze and interpret practice standards, professional journals, technical procedures and
government standards and regulations.
-Working with remote teams.
-Ability to receive constructive criticism.
-Remote office experiences.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
-Ability to resolves a wide range of multi-system issues within company and regulatory guidelines.
-Oncology guidelines and standards knowledge preferred
Education:
-Diploma, Associates, Bachelor, or higher degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certifications:
-Registered Nurse with current unrestricted multistate compact license.
-Must hold a Multi-State nursing license (NLC)
Physical Requirements:
-General office demands.
-Sedentary with no lifting greater than 10 pounds.
-Remote environment - per company/supervisor's discretion and direction, subject to recall to office.
-Flexibility of work demands with location and travel back and forth if Work from Home is an option
-Must reside within 1.5 hours of office location
