Position Title: Fabrication Material Controller II
Work Location: Chesapeake, VA - In Office
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt

Summary: The Fabrication Material Controller II is non-entry level material control professional responsible for the management and supervision of physical inventory materials, including Government Furnished Material (GFM), shop supplies, and office supplies. Duties include processing materials through the purchasing program, staging and stocking material in accordance with task requirements and approved documentation, maintaining an organized inventory system, and issuing materials to authorized personnel. The Controller II provides material control support to Fabrication Facility Management through data entry, document filing, correspondence handling, and delivering material to various sources. This position utilizes spreadsheets, databases, and business-related applications, and may require lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific description of duties:
  • Receive and inspect incoming materials, equipment, and supplies for accuracy and condition.
  • Organize issuing, receiving, and delivery of materials to customers.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly workspace and storage environment.
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders and identify errors or omissions.
  • Assist with physical inventory checks, research discrepancies, and prepare related reports.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication Management, Supply Chain, vendors, and customers to resolve defective or unacceptable materials.
  • Apply knowledge of government, commercial, and international receiving procedures in accordance with FAR/DFAR and company policies.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Perform duties in compliance with Prism Maritime policies and procedures.
  • Work overtime when directed.
  • Complete additional assignments as directed to support organizational goals.

Education / Specialized training -
  • HS diploma or GED is required.
  • 4 years' knowledge and skills regarding inventory processing and control.
  • 2 years' Deltek / Costpoint and SharePoint experience.
  • 2 years' of forklift/ banding/packaging experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Data entry.
  • Technical Writing.
  • Material and Government Furnished Material.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, well-developed.
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Experience in maintaining stock.
  • Possess or have ability to obtain forklift certification.

Security Clearance -
  • Clearance up to secret level may be required.
  • US Citizenship required.

Physical/Environmental Job Requirements -
Physical requirements include the following:
  • Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds
  • Operating material moving equipment

In performing these duties, you may be required to work outdoors. You will experience temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.
