Job Description

This role involves fabricating multilayer insulation (MLI) blankets and related products for aerospace, cryogenic, and defense applications in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will work with industrial sewing equipment, read and interpret shop prints, and follow strict documentation and inspection procedures to ensure high-quality, ISO-compliant products. The position offers structured training in both industrial sewing and cleanroom practices for candidates with strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Measure materials using a ruler and other basic measuring tools to ensure precise dimensions and alignment.
  • Work in a cleanroom environment, including following gowning procedures such as wearing a bonnet, smock, booties, veil, beard guard (as applicable), and cleanroom gloves.
  • Follow ISO and AS9100 documentation requirements by accurately recording work performed, materials used, and inspection results.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Support medical-style assembly and cleanroom processes by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to GMP-like standards where applicable.
  • Use knitting or sewing-related equipment, as needed, to support fabrication tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and trainers to learn and improve sewing, fabrication, and cleanroom techniques.
  • Handle and move materials and finished products, including lifting up to 25 pounds safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all safety, quality, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Work assigned shifts reliably, either first shift (Mondayโ€“Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) or second shift (Mondayโ€“Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.), as scheduled.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in inspection, assembly, or other work requiring a high level of documentation.
  • Ability to pass reading, English, and math assessments used for pre-employment screening.
  • Ability to read and use a ruler accurately for measurements.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow ISO and AS9100-style documentation and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand shop prints and basic blueprints; 6 months to 1 year of blueprint reading experience is preferred.
  • Good spoken and written English skills to understand training, work instructions, and documentation requirements.
  • Reliable work history and willingness to work hard and learn new skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Cleanroom experience and familiarity with gowning procedures (bonnet, smock, booties, veil, beard guard, gloves) are a significant plus.
  • Experience with quality inspection, including documentation and inspection in regulated or ISO environments, is beneficial.
  • Experience in medical device, medical assembly, or GMP-focused environments is advantageous.
  • Experience operating industrial sewing machines, knitting machines, or similar textile equipment is preferred.
  • Comfort working with blueprints, shop prints, and technical drawings related to fabrication.
