Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Seamless Apparel Designer to lead the creation of cutting-edge seamless garments, focusing on activewear, athleisure, and performance wear. In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and execute innovative, high-performance, and functional apparel using seamless knitting technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of seamless garment construction, yarns, and technical knitting processes, with the ability to translate creative concepts into functional designs in Alo aesthetic and ethos. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design seamless (circular knit and warp knit) garments, including activewear, athleisure, shapewear, and other performance-related apparel with strong focus on Women's apparel and partial men's ideation and execution.
  • Ability to work with direction coming from Senior Designer and Creative Director to execute on Alo aesthetic and design.
  • Travel is needed for this position to Seamless suppliers to work with vendors from concept to production stages to ensure products design and fit intention.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to develop innovative designs that are aligned with the brand's vision and customer needs.
  • Create technical sketches and design specifications to ensure a smooth production process.
  • Analyze emerging trends and integrate them into the design process, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and performance.
  • Conduct fabric research, sourcing, and testing to ensure optimal performance of designs.
  • Partner with the technical design team to refine fit, construction, and overall product quality.
  • Manage design projects from concept through final production, maintaining attention to detail and adherence to timelines.
  • Continuously innovate with new knitting technologies, yarns, and eco-friendly materials to push the boundaries of seamless design.
  • Strong presentation skills for milestone meetings seasonally.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in seamless apparel design, with a strong focus on activewear or performance wear.
  • Proficiency in seamless knitting machines (e.g., Santoni) and garment construction.
  • Experience with 3D design software (CLO, Browzwear, or similar).
  • Knowledge of yarn properties, fabric behavior, and textile technology.
  • Strong sketching, technical drawing, and creative design abilities.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge in yarns and knitting technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and a strong team player.

The base salary range for this position is $110,000-120,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company's total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
