Job description

The IEP Writer supports the district in preparing high-quality, compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. This position requires an active Ohio Teacher's License as an Intervention Specialist. For current employees, duties must be completed outside of regular work hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Teacher's License as an Intervention Specialist (all areas or appropriateย specialization).
  • Knowledge of IDEA, state operating standards, and best practices in specialย education.
  • Strong written communication, organizational, and collaborationย skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meetย deadlines.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Draft and edit IEP documents in accordance with federal IDEA, Ohio Department of Education regulations, and district policies.
  • Collaborate with Intervention Specialists, related service providers, and general education teachers to collect student data and develop appropriate goals, accommodations, andย services.
  • Review student records (evaluation reports, progress data, prior IEPs) to ensure accuracy andย compliance.
  • Prepareย presentย levelsย ofย academic achievementย andย functionalย performanceย (PLAAFP) statementsย andย measurable annual goals aligned to standards and studentย needs.
  • Coordinateย andย documentย inputย fromย parents,ย studentsย (asย appropriate),ย andย teamย members.
  • Ensureย timelines forย IEPย development, revisions,ย andย amendmentsย areย met.
  • Enter finalized IEPs into the district's student information system and verify dataย accuracy.
  • Maintainย confidentialityย ofย studentย informationย andย adhereย toย districtย ethicalย standards.
