About the Role
Hello, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers!Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher for a school setting in Cullman, AL. In this role, you'll play a critical part in student success by empowering students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through specialized instruction, collaboration, and support that drives academic success, communication growth, and independence.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions.

  • Support development of communication skills, including spoken language, sign language, and/or total communication approaches.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies.

  • Work with related service providers (e.g., audiologists, speech-language pathologists).

  • Provide training and support to staff regarding hearing loss and classroom accommodations.

  • Monitor and maintain assistive listening devices and hearing technology.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with IDEA and district policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited educational institution with an endorsement in Hearing Impairment

  • Knowledge of hearing impairments, language development, and instructional strategies.

  • Experience working with students with hearing loss in a school setting preferred, not required.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
