About Sandy Hook Promise
Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) envisions a future where all children are free from school shootings and other acts of violence. As a national nonprofit organization, SHP's mission is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. Creators of the lifesaving, evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP teaches the warning signs of someone who may be in crisis, socially isolated, or at-risk of hurting themselves or others and how to get help. SHP also advances school safety, youth mental health, and responsible gun ownership at the state and federal levels through nonpartisan policy and partnerships.
SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

Location
We are a U.S. based organization and most of our staff work remotely nationwide. This role will require 10% travel (on an as-needed basis). Applicants must be based in United States to be considered for this role.
About the Role
The Director, Grassroots Fundraising will oversee the day-to-day management,operationsand performance monitoring of the organization's grassroots fundraising program across direct response channels.This role will focus on operational functions, execution management, and reporting to ensure the effective implementation and growth of grassroots fundraising initiatives.
The Director, Grassroots Fundraising reports to the Associate Vice President, Digital.
Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
  • Support the execution and expansion of direct response fundraising initiatives, including peer-to-peer fundraising, creator campaigns, workplace giving, corporate matching gifts, and federated campaigns, and emerging digital revenue opportunities.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of grassroots fundraising programs, ensuring effective implementation and ongoing optimization of staff- and agency-led campaigns and fundraising activities.
  • Coordinate campaign execution, timelines, testing schedules, and cross-functional workflows to support digital and direct response fundraising objectives.
  • Manage and support the Associate Director of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising to ensure alignment between supporter-driven fundraising efforts and broader grassroots fundraising activities.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on fundraising performance across channels, including donor acquisition, revenue, retention, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Support the implementation of new initiatives, revenue diversification, pilots, and fundraising strategies developed in consultation with SHP and agency leaders.
  • A commitment to SHP's mission and values.
  • Other duties identified as organizational needs.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 5-8+ years of experience with nonprofits in digital fundraising, grassroots fundraising or direct response marketing.
  • Experience executing multi-channel fundraising and engagement campaigns across email, SMS, paid media, peer-to-peer fundraising, advocacy, workplace giving, and emerging digital channels.
  • Hands-on experience with digital fundraising, advocacy, CRM, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of paid acquisition channels, including paid social, search, display, programmatic, and Connected TV (CTV).
  • Experience managing email and SMS programs, including audience segmentation, testing, optimization, and performance reporting.
  • Familiarity with peer-to-peer fundraising, creator & influencer fundraising, corporate matching gifts, and workplace giving.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking and reporting on fundraising performance, donor acquisition, retention, conversion, lifetime value (LTV), and return on investment (ROI).
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and insights to support fundraising strategy and decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage campaign calendars, agency relationships, and multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Agency or Dual C3-C4 Organization experience is a plus.
Benefits and Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $93,000-$103,000.
SHP uses a structured internal rubric to guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay. Typically, new hires are placed at the start of the salary range to ensure equity with current employees, and as a practice, we do not negotiate salaries.

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly Wi-Fi reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
