Food Bank Coordinator (Part-Time, 29 Hours/Week)

Town of Windsor – Social Services Department

The Town of Windsor is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-focused Food Bank Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. Under the supervision of the Social Services Coordinator, this position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the food bank in accordance with the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank model and Connecticut Foodshare requirements while providing exceptional customer service to residents, volunteers, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank, including inventory control, food donations, ordering, storage, and food safety.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise food pantry volunteers.
  • Coordinate Mobile Foodshare and assist with holiday food programs.
  • Register clients following Connecticut Foodshare guidelines and provide referrals to community resources and social service programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and track donations and inventory.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, referral agencies, donors, volunteers, and the Windsor Hunger Action Team.
  • Attend monthly board meetings and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and grant-writing efforts.
  • Perform home food deliveries for eligible clients when appropriate.
  • Assist with other Social Services programs and perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency or related setting.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license with good driving record.
  • Experience working with volunteers, food programs, or community-based organizations desired

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service with sensitivity to diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral processes.
  • Crisis intervention skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet-based applications.

Work Schedule (29 Hours/Week)

  • Monday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Fourth Thursday of each month: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Compensation

$19.50 – $21 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates will be subject to the Town of Windsor background screening process, which includes a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen including testing for marijuana.
