Job description

The Simulation Educator plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing simulation-based learning experiences for both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. This position is responsible for supporting the implementation of clinical simulation experiences. The Simulation Educator will also contribute to procedural skills training, clinical practice labs, and teaching support across the lab experiences. This role works with faculty and other lab personnel to implement planned activities and simulation experiences. Duties include setting up appropriate task trainers, manikins, supplies, and other equipment, implementing simulation experiences, skills instruction and coaching. This individual will also support the daily lab operations as needed. This is an onsite, non-remote position. 
RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Collaborate with other lab personnel to provide learning experiences in clinical skills and simulation to meet faculty and student educational needs.
  2. Collaborate with faculty and simulation leadership to design and implement procedural, immersive onsite, and distance simulation experiences aligned with course objectives and according to standards of best practice.
  3. Prepare simulation environments, including equipment setup, moulage, and scenario programming.
  4. Facilitate simulation sessions, including pre-briefing, scenario execution, and structured debriefing using evidence-based methods.
  5. Evaluate and revise simulation activities based on learner feedback and performance data.
  6. Support faculty in lab-based teaching and clinical skills instruction, also facilitating practice lab experiences. Facilitates tours for recruiting faculty, prospective students, and high school students.
  7. Coaches students to develop skill mastery and may validate student performance according to set guidelines.
  8. Assists procedural simulation with setups, takedown, and monitoring of intensives and other procedural focused experiences.
  9. Coordinates the appropriate setup and efficient breakdown of lab courses.
  10. Participates in the management of supplies and equipment inventory. Maintains simulation equipment, task trainers, and supplies in collaboration with simulation operations staff. Communicates equipment and supply needs in preparation for skills and simulation events for coordination of purchase or repair.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned
 
(Annual Salary: $55,180  - $89,670)
Duties and Responsibilities
 
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. A minimum of two years of clinical work experience as a registered nurse required. Medical-Surgical experience is strongly preferred. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Able to work towards Certification in simulation education (e.g., CHSE). BSN required.
