Job Description
To serve as one of ODU's School Certifying Officials by reviewing claims for Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits. We serve all military affiliated students here at ODU using one of the many VA educational benefits available. We do this by submitting certifications/verifications through the Enrollment Manager portal on a regular basis, both pre- and post-registration. To assist students with questions related to VA benefits, in-person, over the phone, and via email.

Considerable knowledge of customer service techniques.

Some experience querying data.
Some experience documenting processes and training others.
Some experience working with military-affiliated persons.
Possess Department of Veteran's Affairs School Certifying Official Training or complete training with 60 days of hire.
Considerable experience in providing customer service to veterans and military-affiliated persons.
Conditions of Employment
This is a hybrid position, requiring a traditional 40-hour work week. Computer equipment will be supplied for remote work; high-speed internet is the responsibility of the employee. Existing payroll limitations and budgetary constraints may limit the eligibility of a candidate based on their residency.
  • The equipment provided to staff with approved telework agreements enables them to deliver vital services to University faculty, staff, and students from remote locations.
  • Many of our operations can and should continue as usual, even when the main physical campus is closed.
  • Therefore, all division employees with an approved telework agreement are generally expected to work during official University closures.
  • This is an open until filled recruitment. This recruitment may close after the five-day required posting period when a suitable pool of applicants has been generated.
